The news at present is doom and gloom...from the money markets...via global warming...to yet another act of violence. Im caught with the first of these trying to sell a house when theres hardly any money around and people just dont want to take the chance and find its depreciated in value just because the market says so...and shareholders are warned...shares can go down as well as up...buyer beware Another student takes a gun to school and shoots fellow students. This time in Finland. And knife crime is hitting the headlines here on a regular basis. I can remember similar when I was at school but it seems now to be a running theme. Those who know me will know Im a football fan and go regularly to matches...and one of the victims was a young fellow supporter. Several years ago my team...Charlton Athletic...initiated the Kick Racism Out of Sport campaign which has been taken up worldwide now theyve brought another initiative to the fore Street Violence Ruins Lives youll find the ...

Ive been thinking of moving all my beads to Etsy...it seems easier for all concerned to have them in one place. I have left selling on Ebay now their new charging structure just wasnt going to work for someone as small as me...in the listing sense and I might put those listed here on there and then just leave a gallery here and sell the jewellery. I think that makes more sense. Im gradually getting to know my way around the nuances of Etsy...though I would like to see 163s... I can work with...Its strange when you start something new...putting things in your shop for the first time...that will someone like them Will they buy You check the viewing lists...and the number rolls upwards and then your first sale there. You wrap it carefully send it out into the world...and wait Feedback comes in the shape of compliments...and a relief falls over you a sense of achievement and then you cant wait to get the next made and listed. You get to know your regular customers and gradually th...

Good morning...though Im having doubts about that.It is a gloriously sunny morning it is a Sunday...a lazy day as my husband is proving to me But Im in the throes of a bad throat and cold so if I dont speak too loudly Im sorry...and having made it to the football yesterday we lost...having gone into the lead...we lost I wont say more on the subject....not until Ive seen the penalty decision Ive been delving into the family history or rather families. I started looking into my family history years ago but came to a halt when children intervened then passed it on to a cousin...but we dont seem to have got very far. So now with a little time Im back to doing that but at the same time Ive started looking into my husbands family tree. Like all families both have their stories legends which have grown up and sometimes you have to burst those sometimes you find new ones...but its fascinating finding people.
Two days in a row...I could get used to thisI did get to the torch yesterday not that I got much made but I did remember how to shape a bead and got a few sets finished. Sitting here drinking the second cup of tea of the morning I read through some of my favourite blogs catch up on emails and do some research. My ultimate favourite is The Hermitage a fantasmagorical way of story telling by Rima Staines...she always has something interesting but fun to tell us be it what shes up to or something shes seen...hopes...and reading about her eclectic collection of snippets and postcards made me think of our journey to Northumberland last week. A week of Roman ruins castles sand and moors. Its a county I will return to its beautiful and has everything with lots of inspiration. The view of Lindisfarne from BamburghBelsay Hall GardenA smudged view of inspiration...I do love the combination of effects on this trunk and I didnt make a note of what variety of tree it was...well just have to retu...

Id found an artist on Etsy who makes randomness such lovely randomness. Altered images for alternate art amongst other things which is how I found her...www.etsy.comprofile.phpuserid5272622 just follow the link and shell explain who she is. Im now eagerly waiting for the postman to drop a parcel into me then Ill share some photos tooIt seems strange to think that in less than four weeks therell be no journey to work not unless you count climbing the stairs and Ill be dividing my day between different arts.
I thought Id try a different day.......Im slowly going off husbands thats other peoples ones... You can have a decent intelligent conversation with a wife but when the husband comes into the equation...the wife disappears into the background of the conversation. Why is it my house I could sell to many women but the husband...wants to live AT the station NEEDS to extend a house with an extension and planning permission anyway. Sorry guys I know its only some husbands and wives are just the same really. If I had a cat the RSPCA would be after me so Ill aim at a Chelsea steward instead.Ive been kicking my heels with bead making too...Ive run to the bottom of my gas bottle and have sourced a new supplier but his deliveries are tomorrow so its been a time of fiddling and research something that needed time to do and is now done...
At last An afternoon making jewellery again. Having shown the viewers out I made the room untidy by making a bracelet some pendant necklaces a pair of earrings and two chain necklaces.I am delighted with the way the necklaces turned out. They were a new venture and similar to some bracelets I started with and have now begun to return to. I love the very feminine design and feel of these while still using handmade lampwork beads by combining them with crystals they find that sparkle that all girls loveAnother piece made today was a commissioned bracelet. The brief was dark orange...and I hope this design has found that. Again combined with Swarovski crystals it gives that loved sparkle effect. And not least...a pair of earrings for my oldest and closest friend. Weve known each other longer than either of us care to remember...but here we are still friends... You can see Rosies Limes on my Jewellery Gallery. Su xx

Just to let everyone know I am still alive. Its been ages since Ive updated my blog but lifes been busy. One son has just sold his house the other is moving back in with us as his let has been sold. Anyway enough of life...Ive actually started using some of my own beads in my designs now. Thats quite exciting. Theyre not all good enough but they are loads better than when I first started...so you never know I might start selling sometime later in the year... It doesnt do to run before you can walk and if you want a good reputation for bead making theres no point in selling wonky mismatched beads.Ive been experimenting with some new designs and have made a couple of necklets with a Chinese cord and focal. These are much heavier than some but give some wham to colours and necks.Su xx

I also say Happy Birthday to my sister. Im glad she liked her present Over the last few weeks Ive begun making my own beads. Certainly not for sale to other jewellery designers but Ive been happy with my progression and getting the basic ideas right. Ive made a page to show off my development. You can follow my progress there. And gradually Ill start using some of the better ones in my own jewellery. Ive also made a set using copper for the findings and some beads. Ill be photographing it so it will be ready to view soon It has gorgeous warm colours...and very celtic.

A good weekend...and hopefully just the start to a good week.Yesterday I tried my hand at making some corded and ribboned necklaces. Theyre specifically for a party Im doing tomorrow but if they work then Ill try some more. Im pleased with how theyve turned out so...keep your eyes peeled.Today I went to the London Bead Fair at Kempton Park and had a good day even if my husband did try to direct me the wrong way Lots of things to see and mull over. Mostly it was seeds gemstones and tools but in amongst those were a few lampworkers including a large stand of Rob Johnsons beads. Such a lot of choice. I picked up some gemstone and mini freshwater pearl strings. I tend to use those as spacers and intermediate beads also some Japanese size 6 seed style beads. Such gorgeous colours. I did miss a ribbon stand which was at Newmarket...but theyre online so Ill have to find them that way.It was great to meet a few friends...unexpectedly. I know I was pleased to see people again... Whenever I make something new I want to keep it...I guess I buy beads that I love and hope you do. I still have some items to photo but I am beginning to win with the photos...I think I have been making pendants using such beautiful lampwork focals. I find it amazing the delicacy of the work that these small works of art show. I can sit and watch the making for hours. If any of you ever get a chance then find yourself a lampworker ask nicely and maybe youll be lucky and theyll share their secret...or at least one of them Ive still got a couple of different ideas to finish and hope to get a photo of those into here over the next week if they work as well as they could...a bit of watch this space lol If they dont arrive you know they didnt work as hoped.Im off to the Kempton Park Bead Fair next Sunday its a chance to see what...

A bit of a long day but at least a dental visit at lunchtime gave me the quiet and light of the afternoon to develop some ideas that had been formulating over the last few days.I have had two sets of fantastic turquoise encased beads for sometime see below I was so excited when they arrived. Then I spent so much time trying to work out something worthy of the beauty their maker had given them. I didnt want to drown their colour with too much else or to do them a disservice. My experimenting started this afternoon and I can say that I am more than happy with what came to fruition. I used one of the sets that had discs something that can be difficult to show to their full potential. I hope you agree that this view has done that. I have called them Sparta. With the sun glittering on my perch overlooking my garden I made a sparkly piece too one that had the colours of fuchsia and light azore running through them. This will sparkle in the lights or sun. Will bring colour to the neck...

I still have one set of something different sitting here looking at me but I think theyre aiming a similar way just maybe with one or two variations But I have to order some more silver wire.Youll find some new items in my gallery and shop. For the first Ive used Robs lampworks a set called Snake Skin and his clear etched spacers with green cats eyes. The colour green dominates the lampworks and I hope the softness of the spacers echoes the colour...with the cats eyes almost a reflection. It contrasts beautifully. The second is made from rectangle crackle beads of pinky silver and green which Ive spaced with little green cubes and Swarovski erinite crystals and silver lined seed beads. Its a very feminine looking piece. Its been a green week I have revamped my shop and I hope by placing the explanations and history of the items I use this helps in deciphering the strange language jewellery makers use sometimes. It wasnt an easy day....it wouldnt have been anyway but the added heartache...but life does continue.I had to go into a local town Royston Herts. and casually looked in a jewellers window there to see similar bracelets to those I make.
