I started making jewellery several years ago. Mostly in the form of silver-smithing; making torqs, celtic brooches, ear-rings and rings, even making my sister and brother in law's wedding rings, but space, and time forced me to stop. I have, more recently, looked around for a way to create jewellery pieces that will fit into a busy life, and discovered the beauty of beads. After experimenting, I discovered that people liked the items I produced, and offered to buy...and happy to say, it wasn't just good-hearted friends, and family.
As my experiments progressed, so did my knowledge, and discovery of some amazing people and designers of beads. One of my favourites is a local, Rob Johnson, who lives in the Fens of Cambridgeshire, you'll discover his link on my "Special Places" page. Different lampworkers have different designs and loves, always expanding their knowledge, and experimenting with their love of molten glass. Each producing a myriad of beauty, that a jewellery maker tries to enhance.
My belief is that the beads should work with the piece, and not the piece overwhelm the beads; how to complement and contrast; to develop a piece through it's colour, and form. I hope you like what you see, then, I know I am discovering a meaning within my jewellery. You constantly learn from talking to lampworkers, to discover how they see their beads. Their knowledge and understanding of glass is invaluable. And, I thank those that have helped me discover their true art.
My name is Su Mose, and I live in a hamlet of thirty houses, in a very rural part of Essex, near the market town of Saffron Walden, which is a beauty of a different kind. It has a medieval centre, Victorian gardens, two mazes, and plenty of places to find that English tea and scones, when visiting. I know they'd love to see you.
I hope you like my site, and the items for sale. I am never too far from here, and a contact or question is always welcomed, and answered.
